Our Methodology
Our list of the top 100 films is not based on any single person's opinion. Instead, we've developed a comprehensive ranking system that combines the collective wisdom of seven major film authorities:
- American Film Institute (AFI)
- Internet Movie Database (IMDB)
- Metacritic
- Variety
- British Film Institute (BFI)
- Rotten Tomatoes
- Letterboxd
We also factor in Oscar nominations and wins for Best Picture, giving additional weight to films recognized by the Academy. This approach ensures our list represents a balanced consensus of critical and cultural acclaim.
